What it is, who it's for, and how it works.
Career Compass is an online career-profiling tool that helps Malaysian secondary and pre-university students discover careers that fit who they are. You take a short assessment, get a personalised profile, and can chat with an AI Career Advisor about education choices, career paths, and your next steps.
Mainly Malaysian students in Form 4–6, pre-university (STPM, A-Levels, Foundation), or starting a diploma/degree — anyone making decisions about subjects, courses, or careers. Parents are welcome to read along, and the tool is designed to be useful even if you have no work experience yet.
Yes — Career Compass is currently free for everyone. We're working on premium features that will be added later, but anything you sign up for and use now will continue to be available to you. The earlier you start, the more you'll have on your profile. Try it now — no payment required, no credit card asked for.
About 7 minutes. You'll answer 4 quick preference questions and 30 short statements where you indicate how strongly you agree or disagree. There are no right or wrong answers, and you can save your progress and come back later.
No. Career Compass is independent — your results belong to you and aren't shared with your school, teachers, or anyone else without your permission. If your school recommends Career Compass to you, that's a referral; we don't send results back to them.
Signing up, parental consent, and what's required.
Click Register / Login on the homepage, enter your email and a password, and you're in. We'll then walk you through a short onboarding (your name and education level) before the assessment.
Yes. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is okay with you signing up. They're welcome to register the account with you or alongside you. We treat data from minors with extra care, and parents can request access or deletion at any time by emailing dpo@epitome.global.
That's fine — and actually a common reason people use Career Compass. During onboarding you can pick "Unsure" or skip the field of study. The assessment doesn't require it, and the AI Career Advisor can help you explore options that match your strengths.
No. CV upload is optional. If you do upload one, the AI Career Advisor can use it to give more personalised suggestions, but the assessment and core results work fine without it. Most secondary students won't have a CV yet, and that's expected.
What it measures and what you get out of it.
Two things: your personality preferences (how you naturally think, decide, and energise) and your interest profile (what kinds of work and activities pull you in). Together they paint a picture of careers and study paths that are likely to feel like a good fit.
Yes. Your responses are saved automatically as you go. If you close the tab or your browser crashes, you can come back later and pick up exactly where you left off.
A personalised profile that includes your preference and interest highlights, a Holland-style career interest summary, suggested careers that fit your profile, and access to the AI Career Advisor for follow-up questions. Everything stays on your account so you can revisit it.
Yes. If you want to retake it (for example, after some new experiences or a year later), you can start a fresh assessment from the assessments page. Your previous results stay in your history so you can compare.
What the chat does, what it knows, and its limits.
The Advisor knows your profile and assessment results. You can ask things like: "What university courses fit my profile?", "Should I do STPM or A-Levels?", "What does a day in the life of a [career] look like?", or "What subjects should I take in Form 4 if I'm interested in [field]?" It's grounded in your data, so the answers are personalised to you.
The Advisor is a guide, not a guarantee. Suggestions are based on patterns in your responses and general career knowledge, but they're starting points for conversation — not authoritative career advice. Always cross-check with a school counsellor, parent, or someone working in the field you're considering.
Yes — there's a generous usage limit per account to keep things sustainable. You'll see a small indicator in the chat if you're approaching the limit. For typical use (a few sessions of exploration) you'll never run out. If you do, you can always come back later or contact support.
Yes. Your chat history is stored securely on your account and isn't shared with anyone outside Career Compass. The AI provider (Anthropic) processes messages to generate responses but doesn't use them to train their models for our use. Read the Privacy Policy for the full details.
What we collect, where it lives, and how to delete it.
Your email and password (the password is hashed, never stored in plain text), your name, education info, optional CV file and what we extract from it, your assessment responses and results, your chat history with the AI Advisor, and counts of AI usage. The full list is in our Privacy Policy.
On Convex (our database/auth provider) which currently hosts in the United States. Career Compass is operated by eLearningMinds Sdn Bhd in Malaysia and complies with Malaysia's PDPA 2010. Cross-border transfer details are spelled out in the Privacy Policy.
Go to Settings (in the top navigation when logged in) and use the Delete My Account section. We'll permanently remove your profile, assessments, chat history, and CV files. If you'd rather have us do it, email dpo@epitome.global from your account email and we'll handle it.
Email us at hello@epitome.global and we'll get back to you. We're a small team and we read every message.
